About CIADE

The Central Illinois Alliance for Diversity & Equality (CIADE) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization formed in July 2009 to instigate and promote charitable and educational projects that promote human dignity, equality and welfare.

Our first project was organizing the inaugural Peoria Pride Festival, Sunday, September 13, 2009 on the Peoria Riverfront.  The goals of this event are to raise awareness and educate the LGBT community on issues important to them, build a greater sense of community, provide an opportunity for area not-for-profit organizations that serve the LGBT community to raise funds and reach their target audience.  The event was a huge success attracting over 1,700 attendees, 37 vendors and organizations, and was well received by the community.  Visit the event website at http://www.peoriapride.com/ for pictures and more information.

Central Illinois has a large contingent of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) persons as well as established organizations that support them. Recognizing this, a group of pride-minded community leaders and members joined together to form the Central Illinois Alliance for Diversity and Equality (CIADE) in 2009. CIADE serves as a central resource to unite established LGBT programs and will initiate new programs to supplement additional needs. Our first endeavor into bringing the LGBT community together is the inaugural Peoria Pride Festival, which will not only be a great social gathering with live music and entertainment but will also showcase many local and national organizations that support our community. CIADE’s commitment will not end at the event. The board has adopted a near-term goal of founding a LGBT community center in Peoria, IL that will fulfill a variety of recreational, cultural and social service needs. By uniting the LGBT resources and the community they serve, CIADE trusts that we can all create a LGBT voice that can be heard throughout Central Illinois.
